Introduction

Philia ("we", "us", "our") operates the philia.club website. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our service.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, username, and optional profile photo when you sign up.
  • Library data: Substack article URLs and book references you add to your library.
  • Door and Knock data: meetup details, discussion questions, and entry notes you create.
  • Location data: approximate location when you search for nearby doors (only when you grant permission).

How we use your information

  • To provide and maintain the Philia service — matching readers for in-person meetups.
  • To display your public profile, library, and doors to other users.
  • To send you in-app notifications about knocks, accepted requests, and confirmed meetups.

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted in the EU/US). We may share data only if required by law.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in) and locale preferences. We also use analytics cookies (Google Analytics and Meta Pixel) to understand how Philia is used and improve the experience. Analytics cookies are only loaded after you give consent via the cookie banner. You can change your preference at any time.

Data deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings. This permanently removes all your data — profile, library, doors, knocks, and circle memberships. This action is irreversible.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "last updated" date.
